Dyffryn Dyfodol’s vision is that people have the power to make positive changes for their communities. Our mission is to bring people together to collaboratively build positive things with creativity, a spirit of enquiry and kindness for communities and the planet.
We work collaboratively with a broad range (and sometimes unexpected) partners, communities and creatives and organisations, with creativity and collaboration as the spark to make things happen and to do things differently. We love not knowing what will emerge, not having the answers, not gate-keeping, not deciding on behalf of others, sharing decision-making with others, questioning the usual way of doing things and proactively doing things differently and learning together throughout the process. We create frameworks for others to thrive and be creative, come up with new ideas and ways of working that are suited to particular contexts, of place, people, cultures and time.
Background
Dyffryn Dyfodol started as a research and development project in 2021 – a partnership project between Cartrefi Conwy, Natural Resources Wales and Ffiwsar collaborating with creative people and communties exploring what kinds of futures people want to see. Towards the end of the R&D project we established Dyffryn Dyfodol as a Community Interest Company (CIC).
People
Dyffryn Dyfodol is a collective of different people who create teams for specific projects. There are a few of us who make sure things tick over gently over time, primarily Lindsey Colbourne, Katie Trent and Iwan Williams. Others join us for specific activities or projects, and we love this variety in what we do and who we do things with.
Lindsey specialises in bringing together different perspectives – human and ‘more-than-human’ – to experiment and explore things together. Now a full time artist, she started 34 years ago as a professional facilitator – designing and running community engagement, conflict resolution and dialogues for sustainable development in Wales, UK and internationally. She loves weeds.
Katie has over thirty years’ experience in the creative and the environment sectors. This includes event management, production and training delivery and coordination. Her favourite animal is the hedgehog.
Iwan has been working in the creative sector for over 25 years and currently calls himself a creative producer because it includes everything that needs to be done to make things happen. His animal of choice is the domesticated cat.
